and our faces… (2019)

and our faces… was an intimate performance for 8 audience members incorporating Oculus Go virtual reality headsets. Taking John Berger’s 1984 book and our faces, my heart, brief as photos as a starting point the piece explored intimacy and distance and the layering of physical and virtual space.

Made in collaboration with computing scientist Julie Williamson, visual artist Rachel O’Neill and digital artists Dennis Reinmuller and Debbie Moody and our faces… was initially developed during a residency at the National Theatre of Scotland and shown as a work-in-progress in September 2019.

and our faces… is part of a larger artistic research project exploring intersections between Immersive Technologies and Intimate Performance.
